New kid on the block

I'd considered getting up early to photograph the setting supermoon, but slept too late, though I did watch it slowly sink behind the trees from the bedroom window. 

While we were eating breakfast this young heron landed in our pine tree. Herons are vicious predators of frogs and we usually try and stop them coming down to the ponds. Pete opened the back door and went out onto the patio, which is usually enough to cause them to fly away, but this bold youngster just stayed put. It then faced down a couple of angry crows, before flapping slowly off, in no hurry at all. I suspect we'll be seeing more of him or her...
