Flying in

A very high tide at the estuary today, so the birds gradually had to leave their usual island roosts and fly to the only piece of high ground left. Luckily it wasn't possible to walk around the end of the spit, so that kept the dogs out to some extent anyway. Why people think it's okay to let dogs run loose through a flock of resting birds I have no idea. Best case is they don't understand the damage they do. Worst case is they don't care what damage they do. It's all signposted and clearly marked where dogs are allowed, but I never go down there without seeing someone ignoring the signs.

Have politely mentioned it, some people seem genuinely surprised that it applies to their dog - others are abusive, and I know I've done more harm than good. It's quite a dilemma!
