Christmas by the River

This afternoon we went into London to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere.  We chose not to go to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, or even to our usual haunts around Trafalgar Square or South Bank Centre.  We headed, instead, to Southwark Cathedral, Liverpool Street station area, and the riverside near Tower Bridge.

It seems that people were taking advantage of the last working day before Christmas to dash home early, as it seemed remarkably quiet everywhere.  I don't know whether it was the same in the other Christmas Market areas, but the station was quiet and this market had rather few customers:  frustrating for the stall holders.

However, we enjoyed wandering around, stopping for a couple of drinks and generally watching what was going on.
