The Red Van

A view from the third floor* of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP); I captured this one image as the red van sped by, continuing yesterday's color theme. As usual the MEP had multiple exhibitions (all closing tomorrow). The largest included nearly 200 photographs of Marlene Dietrich, from a private collection ten times that size.  The most poignant exhibit displayed large images of life at night in sub-Saharan Africa , with people working by oil lamps, flashlights or the light of their smartphones. The region's 48 countries, with 800 million people, generate only as much electricity as Spain with its 45 million inhabitants.

*Here's another MEP view of the same area from last year.
