How you brought in the New Year

From the looks of your submissions to the community challenge, it seems as though everyone stepped into 2018 in style! As usual, to see the entire collection, just type: #CBNewYear in the search bar.

I enjoyed seeing the many different ways to mark the occasion: an Australian BBQ, a Scottish Hogmanay dance, all dressed up in the UK, kids and blowers in Australia – not to be outdone by adults and blowers in the UK, some good old fashioned Klezmer dance in Vermont, a sophisticated Venetian air in France, or a colorful performance in the UK.

Some played games in Germany, South Africa, or Australia.  Some of you got really brave in Scotland or Ireland!

Lots of fireworks too in Finland, Brazil, (and Brazil redux),  Germany, England, and Scotland. And here’s some creative light painting at the beach in Australia, including as an occasion to celebrate a birthday too! And in this tech-heavy age, even your watch will put on a show!

Food, of course, was often the center piece of activities with a Scottish cheese platter, Dutch Oliebollen, a typical French dinner, Berliners in California, and fish and chips on the day after in the UK.

Some of us chose to celebrate more quietly in the UK, the US, GermanyCalifornia and Washington State.

And when your friends happen to be blippers too, there’s an opportunity for multiple perspectives on the same event: PokeyBagel, Emsie, SaraEvans, AndMe, including a post party shot J

Now for my favs:

- a shot that includes about every possible symbol for a NY!

- wishes from our furry friends :)

- a bit of humorous perspective in the story telling of that shot ;)

and finally, the sheer joy captured in that image J

So, well done, blippers!

Now, take a few minutes of your time each day to also check out the journals of those who’ve joined Blipfoto recently: you know that a bit of encouragement in the early days of blipping goes a long way!
