Time for tea

See also last year, for a better photo all round. S's mum's birthday today, so we continued our new tradition of a home-made cream tea. I was apprehensive about the brandy snaps last year, but this year I handled them like a pro. Once you know how easy the shaping is, they are a doddle. I made some of the best scones I've done in a while too. S was in charge of the mushroom vol-au-vents without which no birthday tea is complete, and we had mini sausage rolls too. And finally a cherry and almond cake from a Nigella recipe which we all agreed was not as good as S's mum's original recipe ... we are thoroughly stuffed now.

In other news, the weather is still dull and dreary.
