New Painting

Happy Birthday to me. Ha ha. Today is my "real" birthday. Now I actually am 75 years old. Yikes! Honestly, I really really do not know how I got this old. Not that I'm complaining mind you. But really? 75? Me? Though I think I don't feel or act my age, at least I hope not.

I started the day in open studio. I began the second stairs painting in a new series. It's actually a sub-series of my shadow and light series. This one focuses on shadow and light on stairs. Today I did the under painting and the initial drawing. It's based on a photo I took in the same building as the last stairs painting I did. It was a rich source for interesting stairs photos.

After class I picked up Helena and we drove down to Anacortes to my brother's. Dave, Nora, Helena and I walked from their house to the Brown Lantern, a tavern style bar/restaurant on Commercial Street. We met friends Rick and Judy there and had a yummy meal together. We four then walked home and sat quietly and talked. And I played with Dexter, Dave and Nora's Havanese. He is big for the breed, very furry and cute, and loves to play. Finally it was time for Helena and me to drive home. It was a lovely way to spend my birthday.
