Life in Sunny Dubai

E55

Occasionally, (very rarely) you get a real arty picture from this studio, and today is one of those days, although, I can't claim to have taken any of these! It was G, yet again from a fast moving car. I was just the driver!

Today we decided to go for a drive to see some of the Northern Emirates which are our nearest neighbours. We headed to Sharjah on the main highway and weaved our way through some old haunts. Places that you would absolutely on a weekday as traffic is so manic.

We started at Rolla Square, then drove along the coast road as much as we could to Ajman and Umm al Quwain - to see the salt flats there. Unfortunately, it was the wrong time of the day and the visibility wasn't so great, though it was the best its been all week.

We then discovered a new road - the E55. G wanted to drive to Falah Al Moalla, UAQ's oasis. There wasn't too much to see there, except the camel farms which is where the first extra is from. On to Dhaid - Sharjah's oasis, we continued to the Maliha plain, driving past Fossil Rock, which is where the main image is from. The landscape has very distinct features here, and it is strange to see sand dunes suddenly stop and give way to shrubby plains! The E55 is definitely a very interesting and varied road.

We then turned on to the E44 to bring us home. A very familiar road; the sand is definitely a different colour here. G managed to get a shot of the Big Red with the 4WDs that had managed to conquer it.

It's always great to get out of Dubai, as well as great to drive back into it after a few hours! :)
