We’ve come so, far ...

... away from where we should be.

For months now I have been meaning to acquire this book from the second hand shop. Finally purchased it on Saturday and eagerly delved into it soon after.
The prime draw to the book all those months ago, were the wonderful images by Brian Lanker. The images are accompanied by his transcripts edited by Barbara Summers. These brief thought provoking summaries describe the unique but rhizomatic experiences of a small representative fraction of the black female struggle for equality and acceptance in this world.

As a reference point, in the light of current news, it has become bitterly apparent after reading only ten of the seventy five testimonies in this book, that we, not just the United States, but humanity, have not resolved (amongst other issues) our racial or gender differences in the almost three decades since this book was published; never mind the attempts at resolution centuries before.

... we’re crap!
