IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!

Mr. HCB has been poring over seed catalogues and sorting out the seeds that he will need and wants to order them before we go away, so that he will be ready to start sowing them when we get back.

He is also still enjoying doing jigsaw puzzles and after bidding on Ebay for this Wentworth puzzle, he has been “dreaming” of cricket again - not that he will be going to Lord’s Cricket ground, but it keeps him out of mischief.

I realise all of the seed packets in the photograph are flowers, but most of what he is ordering will be vegetables and will include, runner beans, french beans, courgettes, squash, lettuce, onions, beetroot etc etc - you get the idea!

For the gardeners out there, Mr. HCB tends to get most of his seeds from a very good website called Seed Parade because he can buy smaller quantities and they are much cheaper and of course, they are fresh every year.

It’s another rainy and dull day today, so we are looking forward to some heat and sunshine when we go away, but I heard from our friends in Hong Kong today that it is very cold over there!!  Ah well, I can cope with cold, as long the sky is blue - it’s the grey skies that tend to make us feel depressed and today is the last day of January, so hopefully, Spring will realise that it is time to make its entrance.

“Spring is the time of the year
when it is summer in the sun
          and winter in the shade”
Charles Dickens, Great Expectations
