Pruning?

Looks more like destruction of what was a lovely tree.

Yesterday morning when I walked past on my way to the station, they were setting up a cordon round this tree. When I walked home last night, a lot of branches were on the ground and there was a sign on the tree saying that tree pruning was taking place.

This morning, I was walking along thinking how difficult it is to find blip inspiration in winter when it's dark by the time I leave the office, when a blip opportunity appeared in front of me. I thought they'd finished on this tree yesterday - a lot had been removed but probably not so much that it wouldn't grow again. But today here they were again. 

This evening when I went passed, the rest of the branches had gone and there wasn't much more than the trunk left. :(
