Between Christmas and Easter

Lent starts next week with Ash Wednesday.
Forty days in the wilderness.

Why deprive ourselves of the beauty of spring?
I would rather be happy, playful, and unrestrained.
Can that be a Lenten intention?
To celebrate the magnificence of Creation?
To laugh and be lighthearted?
