Quod oculus meus videt

Slater's Bridge

It was lovely to catch up, with Technophobe (who is just celebrating her 1500th blip), Lapsed Canon, ClicketyChick, Jerra, SueMiddleton and her husband Dave (a non blipper), last night  Such wonderful company.

I was heading back home today from The Lakes, but seeing blue sky above while having breakfast, I couldn't resist a walk before I left.  I headed out towards Elterwater, before crossing to Little Langdale and then following the Cumbria Way back to the hotel.  The walk provided a lovely reminder of walking the Lakeland Haute Route in 2011, as much of the first section of the walk retraced those steps.

I stopped at various points as the scenes were wonderful.  There was fresh snow on the highest fells in the Coniston Range, The Langdales, Crinkle Crags and Bowfell.  On the final section of the walk I could see that the Helvellyn Range was similarly coated with snow.

I saw plenty of photographers with tripods as I walked around but unusually Slater's Bridge was clear of anyone.  I've photographed here many times and so decided on a slightly different interpretation of the classic scene.  In all just over 7 miles, taking 3 and a bit hours (I spent a lot of time taking photos!).

Then it was motorway driving for about 3 hours to arrive home less than a minute before my wife.  I think I've been missed as I was expected to cook the dinner.  Fleur, our cat, initially ignored me (being fed was much more important!), but she did honour me with lying on my lap for a few minutes before I popped up to post this image.
