Tight against the cold

I have been waiting for these to open, but it has been a little chilly, or perhaps I missed it while I was doing stuff indoors.  Anyway, before it grew dark I crouched in the garden as it began to hail and captured these beautiful little flowers.

Normally they are marmelised by the chickens as they scratch in the grass; but we have had to enclose our three hens against Avian Flu, a restriction that they seem to resent, but it means that we have small winter flowers flourishing – in places that I didn't know we had the corms or bulbs (or whatever they grow from).
