The Monitor!

A real live paraffin blow lamp, from the days when personal protective equipment consisted of a flat cap and a brown apron :-)

Found in Gill's mum's garage,  I'm pretty sure it belonged to her dad and it is still half full of paraffin.  I thought it would make a good still life subject, so once the weather warms up I'll ditch the paraffin and leave it out in the sun to dry out,  then I should be able to polish the brass up. 

Alternatively - it should make a wonderful practical explanation/demonstration of a number of basic science principles for James and Ariadne. 

Edit - Thunrderbirds are Go ... how to fire one of these up  N.B. I'm not sure he is putting the meths in the correct place,  but you get the idea :-)
