Recession

The sort we like - snow gradually, and then dramatically, disappearing! We had a walk this morning (where I just could NOT resist a little lie down in a tempting drift) in ethereal mists with sheep baaing in the distance; and now, late afternoon, the sun is doing it's best, dispersing gloom and snow alike. I just loved the dogwood's firey branches against the snow - how fortunate I didn't have time to cut it back earlier.
We've had a list of birds on the feeders today: redpoll, linnet, brambling, siskin, reed bunting (we think!), coaltit, blue tit, great tit, long tailed tit, chaffinch, robin, house sparrow, dunnock, blackbird, a fieldfare, a magpie, buzzard, raven ... got nothing done as we kept going to the window for a spot! We also saw a teeny little goldcrest popping around the brambles and bracken along the track in the plantation on our walk. A great day for twitching!
A tractor plus big bucket has cleared the track; the snow wouldn't move for the snowplough where it had formed 10' drifts at the bottom of the hill. Thank goodness :-)
Finally, but MOST importantly, a huge thank you to you lovely people for dropping by and commenting yesterday - it really made our day extra fine with all the good wishes and more favourites than I've ever had before - you are all very special. I'm even 'Popular' ;-)!!!
