River of Flowers

Mahonia "Charity" #2

Apologies for a poor blip but it has been grey and cold most of the day, I was hoping for a repeat of the Moon's appearance of last night but nothing doing.

The Mahonia appeared on 21st April when it was full of fruit and feeding the blackbirds.

This is a shot of the first signs of this winter's flowers, they usually flower from the end of December right through to March.

Many small garden birds eat the yellow flowers. On mild days the flowers provide nectar for bumble bees and overwintering butterflies, so it is a really useful wildlife plant.
