Arizona Dreamin’

Facing Downward

I attended my first Photography as Art class this afternoon then raced around for a photo and tried a simple technique.  It's completely new for me and I figured if I didn't try it right away I would forget everything. I hope you don't get too sick of my experimenting as I go along.

This pole is the perfect example of our 'dark skies' law.  Astronomy is a huge industry in southern Arizona.  In fact, I can see the Whipple Observatory from my house.  All lights must be pointed at the ground without any diffusion so there's no interference with the sky gazing.
