New batsman at the crease.

This afternoon, I held a meeting of staff who act as Duly Authorised Officers. It is partly a discussion session, and partly acts as training for them. It is part of my job to annually renew their authorisation to implement specified aspects of the legislation. Today, the greatest interest was in how, even whether, we implement a new provision in an amendment to the Act. The amendment permits nurses to do something that only doctors have been doing . Many of the nurses are anxious about doing formally in a certificate what they have been doing and writing for years. They are concerned that like the batsman before this one facing his first delivery, will be stumped when out of their ground. I'm not sure that I was able to reassure them.
