Sub-alpine Warbler male ...

... captured on our last day in Albania not far from Tirana. This warbler is uncommon and not easy to see (and its taxonomy is complex). It seems to have an insect in its beak.  It was quite distant and moving frequently so I was happy to get anything at all (in fact my original file was just under Blipfoto's minimum dimensions of 600x600 pixel--which I encountered for the first time--so I upsized it modestly).  We traveled altogether from Valbona in the far north to the Tirana, and we made an early portion of the trip on a ferry( see the extra, taken at 7:00) for 2 1/2 hours along a long artificial lake which supplies a high proportion of Albania's hydroelectric power (I'll try eventually to mark the map for the location of the extra). From Tirana we took a late flight to London  Gatwick where we spent the night.    (Posted the next afternoon in Dublin, Ireland. Stay tuned :)
