Canal Calamities

Working over in Falkirk today and witnessed the canal locks in action. Twelve guys draining the locks and letting a barge through seems a bit overkill to me but they seemed to have it down to a fine art, you can see the starting water level in the extra.

The Forth & Clyde canal runs a 35 mile distance and has 39 locks along that span before it joins the Union canal where you would need the engineering feat that is The Falkirk Wheel to get access.

Quite a nice thing to see in action for a lunchtime blip :)
