Rose Chafer

I saved this little chap(ess) from dehydration in the conservatory and set him/her outside. He posed for me in return of favour.

The grubs feed on decaying matter then pupate in the soil over Winter before emerging as adults in the Spring. As adults they feed on flowers. They are strong flyers and are widespread but scarce. We have a good population in our garden however.
