Slow Worm

Slow, slow, quick, quick, slow camera!

I'm still finding it pretty chilly today, but this slow worm found a warm spot in our garden to sun herself this morning. She looked up when I approached, but didn't rush off, just watched me taking photos. She was surprisingly long - couldn't see the tip of her tail as it disappeared into the foliage.

I know she is a female as her sides are darker than her back, which has a narrow line running along it. (The male is smaller, paler, and sometimes has blue spots.) The slow worm is a member of the lizard family.
