Somerset House Fountains

A lovely blipmeet organised by Nicosannie to the Sony World Photography Awards in Somerset House on a lovely warm spring day in the capital. We walked from Victoria to Trafalgar Square and Saint Martin's in the Field passing by Buckingham Palace as they were changing the guard. A fine spectacle of music, marching and tradition that drew large crowds.

Nine of us descended to the Crypt for lunch then walked along the Strand to Somerset House. The Fountains provided as much interest as the exhibition with some great opportunities to take photos of those brave or foolhardy enough to walk through. (like me)

Curiously, there was only a little conversation about the photographs we'd seen as we sat in the sunshine in the open square enjoying a drink. And in truth, while there were some very arresting shots, images that moved, challenged and provoked you, very little stood out. I was disappointed not to learn anything about the technical side of each shot.

Blippers eventually went our separate ways, we walked over Waterloo Bridge, along Southbank, over Westminster Bridge, through the crowds in Parliament Square, onto St James' Park, The Green Park (see extra) and eventually back to Victoria in time to catch the 18.18 home. We were expecting the train to be packed but it was surprisingly quiet.

A grand day out, thanks for organising Nicosannie and nice to meet blipper new and old.
