Yellow Broome

I did some gardening this morning, spraying weeds, cutting a small section of grass and re-potting the window boxes.  By lunchtime it was too hot to work outside and I was collecting Jake (Victoria’s Partner) from the next station along just before noon. He had stayed overnight on Friday after visiting Victoria, with Nicola at her friend’s home and by catching the fast train from London, which does not stop at our station; he could have almost another hour with Victoria. Then he was off to play cricket.

After lunch I did some OU work and then pottered about the house doing not very much. Our son-in-law, Simon and grandson Oliver visited during the afternoon. They had just returned from visiting Victoria and called to see us after leaving the train at our station, before going home.

Today’s picture is of one of our Broome shrubs, this one is quite big and really needs pruning back, but every year I worry that I will kill it so leave it alone. We also have another half dozen of these in the same border, including red, yellow and orange; they are not flowering yet.
