Pictorial blethers

Always unexpected

Even in the drizzle that dominated the middle of today, this lovely pink blossom arrested the attention and had me stop, shopping and all, to take a photo. For this is not one of the picturesque glens near the town, nor is it Benmore Gardens; it is instead right in the centre of Dunoon, in the hollow where the Milton Burn runs on its way from Loch Loskin, on the high road to Sandbank, to the sea - which it finally gains through a tunnel under the houses and gardens of Alexandra Parade.

On the far side of the burn is St Mun's Primary school; the main road is to my right as I took the photo, the supermarket ahead of me, the library behind. This is the very best I've seen this unexpected haven looking, but I'm always pleased to know it's there.

Annoyingly, the sun came out later, far too late to be useful, and it was cold and clear outside now as we came back from choir. We have a gig on Saturday, so this was a final run-through, and I'm exhausted.

The singing was good, though ...
