Zoo Trip #64: Slimbridge (Tuesday 22nd May 2018)

I have a birthday this week and so does Refna, so we decided to spend it at Slimbridge today, knowing that a Blipmeet was also taking place. As it happened our paths didn't cross with theirs until quite late in the afternoon when they were making their way to the Holden Tower as we were coming back from the banks of the Severn on the Summer Walkway.

It was a really glorious day and the stars were the flamingoes and the otters. We'd gone to the Kingfisher Hide without seeing any kingfishers, but did see one streaking across the Scrape from the Zeiss Hide a little later. We saw the otter talk but had already caught Minnie and Haha (10 year old sisters) sunbathing just the other side of the fence, so one of them has provided my blip.

In Extras are some balletic flamingoes and the Spirit Of Freedom II passing a swan on the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. We'd stopped there for a quick stroll on the way in. The Bewick's swan and the gosling seen from the hide (with my hand) were taken by Refna.
