Matthew Dennison book covers

Art talk at Froelick Gallery.

Matthew showed 365 of these, one per day.  The books, some over a hundred years old, belonged to his parents, whose practice was never to discard a book. Matthew painted them in response to the day's news, and calls the collection "Democracy."

Extra: The artist with more of his work.

See also: Barry Pelzner's rule-based paintings, in the same show. If you like Escher, you'll love these mesmerizing black-and-white patterns.
