Life through the lens...

A grand day out!

What a fabulous day out with friends K and A.
We took them to Naburn Locks and had our usual walk along the river.
They had never been before and were captivated with the river, and peace of the place.
Some volunteers were working on the restoration of the old buildings, and very kindly opened up the old Blacksmiths work shop to show us.
They took such a delight showing us round. They are hoping to get it working again, but have problems with Health and Safety. Something they didn't have to contend with when it was working before.

Then on to Naburn Marina, where we had lunch at the cafe, sat out by the river.Watching the boats go by.

We then took them on part of the York Solar Walk to see The Fisher of Dreams. The steel sculpture on Naburn Bridge. They had no idea it was so large.

From here we drove to Fairburn Ings.
I was hoping to see some young Great Crested Grebes, but the parents were still sat on the eggs.
However we did see a kingfisher fly down the river, and a small pike in the water under the bridge.
Lots of Azure damselflies but unfortunately too far away for a good photo.

We finished off the day with tea and cakes back at our house.
All feeling quite tired now.
Think it is all that fresh air and sunshine. Walking and food. Fun and laughter!
A day we have all enjoyed.
