Well named!

I'm still sauntering around the nature reserve while I build up strength in my injured ankle... which means I'm seeing more. This amazing longhorn beetle landed on my trousers yesterday (see extra photo). It had me completely puzzled until I consulted with the Facebook Beetles of Britain and Ireland group. It turned out to be an unusual all black form of Stenocorus meridianus, the more typical red/brown and black form of which I have found before. It lives up to its common name of Variable Longhorn Beetle.
