The 18 metre high basalt Siwash Rock in Vancouver's Stanley Park was supposedly formed when Skalsh (or Slhxj7ish as he was known in the local Squamish language) was transformed into stone "as a reward for unselfish fatherhood" The local authorities are taking notice of the indigenous people's request that the name reverts to that which it has been called for thousands of years before Europeans and others settled within recent times especially as its present name is derogatory meaning Savage.
