Pictorial blethers

By blethers

I went to Choral Evensong today, in St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh. Circumstances prevented me from going to a morning Eucharist, but a walk through leafy streets followed by some decent choral music and a smashing organ seemed a suitable compensation.

And here’s a thing. The music, the conduct of the service - these were both good enough to allow me to lose myself in the moment, to realise that I was experiencing the way I used to be when I first encountered this particular mystery. And then I knew that in a space as huge as this, the worship I was part of was the only way not to feel overwhelmed and lost.

An odd moment, and a fleeting one.
