A day of two halves

This morning a verdant walk in the afforestation behind us.  I had  little green caterpillar hitch a ride on my trainers and a hare shot across the track beyond me, hard to see in the dappled shade.

When I returned LH had just received the news the his mum had been readmitted to hospital with a suspected heart attack last night.  Thank goodness his sister was staying over with her.  Anyway, in a pragmatic sense this meant that our original plans for both today and tomorrow had to be amalgamated if LH was to go back over to his mum's tomorrow.

She is fairly stable, but a bit confused and now in an elderly persons' assessment unit and undergoing yet more tests.  One day at a time...

So a 'nip' into Shrewsbury to collect a new mobile (it was the worst day to be doing this; vital lines of communication with LH's sister were disrupted by all the shenanigans of uploading Stuff from old to new without a decent internet connection) and then down to Birmingham to do furniture shopping.  Which I hope explains the slightly harrassed expression.  It would be great if we could get the new sofa before Dad's 90th and then guests can avoid the ingrained dog use of the 20+yr old item currently gracing the living room.  It is a bit shameful, despite washable covers.

We met up with LD after she finished work and had an unplanned meal out.  She was full of energy and beans despite it being Friday!  Such a treat :-)  And then were kind parents and gave her a ride home with the promise of a cuppa at the far end.

Shattered.
