Flying Day

I generally do a bit of instruction on a Thursday.  Today was no different except that there was a VIP visitor whose arrival delayed my move off the chocks – my student and I sat on the parking area for about 10 minutes, engine running, waiting for permission to taxi.

I had already had to delay my walk to the aircraft for the same reason, except that the visitor was delayed and my attempt to taxi was then delayed.

So, while I was waiting to walk to the aircraft, I grabbed this shot, looking west from the squadron building, showing the few Tutors parked and waiting for their crews.  You can also see the practice ramp in the distance, used for practising takeoffs from ramp-equipped carriers when the airfield had frontline aircraft of a certain type – halcyon days!
