Breathing in the summer

Beautiful weather

Enjoyed some walking, thinking space and wonderful sights, the smell of pine trees in heat was super and always reminds me of frequent childhood holidays in Arcachon or Biscarosse where they get resin from the trees to make into large anti mosquito candles sold in big Terracotta pots, years before the UK had heard of citronella. The Citroen and Pine ones were my faves. You see the pots strapped to the trees all over the region, collecting the resin over time!

Spoke to a colleague today who made my morning by validating a view I had that had caused me concern, a positive experience, she told me several people shared my concerns. Validation of views is very much interwoven with our sense of self and I’m not sure it needs to be. . .

I made someone’s day today by becoming a friend of Westonbirt Arboretum- she was surprised someone was taking out membership (less than the cost of 4 visits in a year and can be gift aided). There were only about 20 cars in the car park this afternoon and I think that was down to excessive heat. Worth the trip for the amazing smells of the trees and plants!
