Tiny Tuesday: Schrader Valve

I decided that it was high time I pumped up my bike tyres for the summer and went out for a ride (which I plan to do tomorrow - I'll take it gently as I've not been out biking since last September, and my knees aren't what they used to be!).

Whilst doing this I was pondering my Tiny Tuesday blip. A Schrader valve core seemed the obvious choice. Schrader-type valves are used on almost all cars round the world, and on most bikes with wider wheel rims (narrow bike rims apparently require a narrower Presta valve). The valve in this photos is about 1.5cm long.

According to Wikipedia, the original Schrader (or "American") valve design was invented in 1891, and patented in the United States in 1893.
