Time for a Tunnel

My (Chris) last day with the canal boat today as I needed to be home for Rosie this evening. The rest of the crew will depart tomorrow.

We left Westport Lake after a proper fry-up breakfast and headed for the Harecastle Tunnel. At nearly 2.7km long, it takes around 45 minutes to travel through and unlike the outside temperature today, it was very chilly, especially in the middle! It's a very impressive piece of engineering and needs to be carefully operated: there are no passing places, so boats can only travel one direction at a time. The blip shows us parked up and ready to go.

For me it was another hour or so on our fabulous boat then I was dropped off to collect the car and I hit the roads home.
