Abbotsford

Our first day exploring The Scottish Borders. After our drive yesterday we didn't feel like travelling too far so we opted for a local attraction. This is Abbotsford, the home of Walter Scott, not far from Melrose.

We had a wander round the ground floors of the house, before exploring the gardens. We then had a lovely lunch in the restaurant. Finally, we went for a walk in the local area, which brought us back here along the River Tweed.

It was rather hot, which wasn't what we'd expect for Scotland, but the UK is experiencing some unseasonably hot weather this summer!
