If you can't beat them...

Ribes rubrum

Our allotment day, while staying with Katkatkat we always offer to help with any jobs on her allotment and sure enough she had jobs for us.  My main job was clearing weeds in the strip where the fruit trees are planted.  Taking care not to remove her carefully planted wild garlic (Ramsons).

Clickychick was pointed at the red currant bush and asked to pick everything that was ripe.  What a task!  The bush was glowing red with the quantity of fruit.  There were so many I suspect there will be either a lot of red currant jelly or perhaps rec currant wine.

We BBQed for lunch and eventually went back to the flat for our evening meal.  However we weren't finished!  During the day a package of brassicas had been delivered.  The next few days were going to be busy for her followed by going away.  So they had to be planted.   Eventually we arrived back at the flat for a bath, well earned relax and a wee dram.
