RW's Daily Exposures

Red-shoulder Hawk

Another shot of one of the fledglings from this spring at McClellan Preserve. I have been following two of the three fledges for the last 5 weeks. They go to the same location each day, cry out for the other fledge (only two survived), and coming together to perch on this oak. They were abandoned fairly soon after fledging. The male was only seen for a few days after the eggs hatched. It seems that these two fledges need to have each other's companionship. They will both call out all day long, supposedly to each other. It's been an interesting behavior observation.

We're happy to have them.
