M.V. Glen Sannox

This is my first oil painting, the car ferry Glen Sannox, launched in 1957. I have many happy memories of holidays in Arran, the Glen Sannox sailed regularly from Ardrossan to Brodick, and there was nothing better than the excitement as a child of getting off the train from Glasgow & up the gangway on to the ferry. We used to love watching the cars drive on to the turntables then disappearing below. The over the water , watching the beautiful Arran hills (in the painting, the pointy one is Goat Fell) get bigger, clearer & the wooden pier at Brodick appearing with the buses lined up waiting for us....
I wish.....
