Fionn Gardner of The Voice of Ireland

My godson Fionn Gardner paid us a visit at lunch time today. Fionn reached the quarter finals of the fourth series of The Voice of Ireland in 2015, so I like to think of him as an 'almost pop star'. He's now about to go into his final year at the Royal Central College of Speech and Drama in London, and has been in Edinburgh this week for the festival. We really enjoyed hosting Fionn's visit today. It a long time since we last saw him in person, and he's turned out to be a lovely young man.

Fionn gave us a break from the on-going Massive Study Sort-out. After a couple of hours of working through paperwork related to bank accounts, shares, book royalties, premium bonds etc. this morning, Mr hazelh set up another fire to burn all the no-longer-needed documentation.

Later this afternoon Mr hazelh and I jumped on our bikes to visit Darcie, Keith, Jackson and the new arrival at their house: Harper. My first extra shows Harper on her rug, and the second the steam punk jewellery that we presented to her as a birthday present (along with a note for her to read when she is old enough to appreciate this kind of thing).

In between all this I caught up on my email and frightened myself by looking at my work calendar for September to December. Given the way that my working week is filling up with meetings and supervisions, I have no idea when I will have time to prepare my Thursday classes. Yikes!

Exercise today: short cycle ride to visit new baby Harper.
