Common Enchantments

The Blue Ridge

Today we left at 7:30am to drive to North Carolina to meet up with #1 son to drop off the dormitory supplies I had gotten for my granddaughter who moves into her college dorm on Friday.    We were hoping to catch up with her also to give her a hug and best wishes as she starts her college education at Appalachian State University next week.  But she actually was working at her first real paying job!     Making sandwiches at a local sandwich shop but a job is a job.   She is hoping that the shop will be able to work with her around her classes so she can have some spending money.   The sandwich shop is a short distance away from where her dorm is but she can ride the local bus service that is available for students.  No cars on campus for freshmen.    We are so happy for her as she begins this next part of her life.   I think her Daddy is a little bit sad as his baby girl is all grown up.    The other granddaughter starts her senior year in high school next week.      I am getting old!

We decided to just turn around and drive back home since everyone was busy and working and the town was full of students moving in and all the traffic and people that goes with that happening.    We hopped on the Blue Ridge Parkway for about 20 miles or so instead of the normal route.     The mountain views were really great today.   Not too hazy but so blue!     The sky was not great...kind of gray because of some cloud cover but normally the mountains are so hazy they don't show up well in photos.    I think this one works well to show why they are called the Blue Ridge Mountains.

We arrived home at 6:30..so more time driving than we actually were out of the car!  I could have stopped much more for photos but the dog was home alone.   A neighbor came over to let her out at noon so she was good.

Of course I had the wrong lens for wide!
