Roman Theatre at Orange

One of today’s highlights was a visit to Orange to see the Roman Theatre, a genuinely amazing sight, with its 40m high stage wall intact - the only one still surviving in the world. Today it’s used as a venue for opera, classical performances and rock concerts - tomorrow night it’s Kid Creole and the Coconuts! 2000 years ago it would have been mime, pantomime and poetry readings, much of which would last all day ... I think I know what I’d prefer.
