Ha ha ! Abstract Thursday :-) - I(R)KEA - AT164

So, honesty time - in the process of figuring out which mirrorless camera to go with - it was a choice between a Fuji X-T20 and a Fuji X-T2 ... 

I bought one of each ( 2nd hand ! ) with the intent of keeping one and returning the other ...

Well, I didn't - the X-T2 won the usability stakes ( I really wasn't a big fan of the X-T20 - go figure ... ) but rather than selling it on, like I should have, I spent more money on it to have it converted to 830nm Infra-Red. This is a ridiculous indulgence, because, really, how many IR shots are you going to take in a life time ?

This is also the most extreme IR conversion that you can have - it excludes all human visible light levels resulting in a mono picture ( albeit a slightly strangely magenta tinted one - I correct back to _black_ and white - see the extra for the un-corrected version ). 

Outside in daylight ( where there is a good amount of IR from the sun ) exposures are fairly equivalent to normal, inside, where incandescent and fluorescent light sources are less in use, exposures are huge ! 

This shot is taken in IKEA ( yes, I know ... ) where there is _no_ natural light - so what was effectively a simple shot of a few glass baubles, at ISO 200, with an f/1.4 lens nearly wide open at f/2.5*, resulted in an exposure time of 30 seconds ...

I, in the reflection, am mercifully blurry - owing to the fact that I can't stay still for 30 seconds at a time ;-) Although, with fascination, knowing that I was/am wearing a dark blue shirt - how it appears as white is fun ... 

I do, however, submit multiple spheres as "repetition" in line with the theme for Abstract Thursday.

* I wanted slightly more in focus than f/1.4 would give me, and I pushed the aperture as tight as it would go without overstepping the 30 second limit of the camera exposure calculation ...
