World Photo Day

Today is World Photography Day. World Photography Day is celebrated on August 19th because on this day, in 1839, the French government bought the patent for the Daguerreotype and released it “free to the world”.  See this YT link!  The first camera I ever used was my Mum’s red Kodak Box Brownie  -  goodness knows where it is now!  All of the photos she took of me were on this camera, and were always family or friends. The blip is me (the sulky blonde in the middle), with my cousins Raymond Chiverton, and Iris and her brother Gordon.  I have put the photo in a Daguerrotype frame to commemorate this day in 1839.
