Hebrides heaven at Baile-na-Cille

Who can resist a blip of this view of Baile-na-Cille guest house and Uig Sands? Not I, it would appear. I took this photograph at the start of our walk today. We took the single track road across the moors to Gallen Head.

Our first stop was the beautiful pebble beach at Aird Uig, with its fine views of the sea stacks and Bernera (see the extra). Ridgeback13 would love the searching through the stones here. Then we spent some time wandering through the ruins of the old RAF listening station (see one of the relics in my other extra).

Amongst the derelict military buildings we met a couple from Atlanta, Georgia. A chance conversation with them led to a wonderful long lunch together at the Edge café.

On our last evening at Baile-na-Cille I beat Mr hazelh at Scrabble, then we enjoyed another fabulous meal, this time in the company of a couple who work in fashion in Milan (but hope to relocate to Manchester before the end of the year).

Exercise today: walking (23,024 steps).
