Sunshine and showers!

We spent the morning at Hardcastle Crags.

Left the car in warm sun but within five minutes the rain was coming down in biblical proportions!

We got pretty wet walking up to Gibson Mill but the prospect of a hot coffee kept us going. No hot drinks available as the power was too low (they are off grid and I think it has happened to us before). A great disappointment but at least by then the sun was out again. We had seen wedding signs along the route and there was a wedding party gathering at the mill. People in finery were standing around with many of them wearing wellies. Don't know if this was the dress code or a precaution but they were very clean and some quite fancy wellies. As we headed back we caught a glimpse of the bridal car, a beribboned Land Rover.

We walked back along the Mill path in the sun and got back to the car before the rain blasted again.

In HB we got a coffee at the Town Hall and then went to one or two shops. I spotted this lovely flower arrangement at the foot of the Old Packhorse Bridge in the centre of town. It stayed sunny but you can see the dark clouds in the distance and down it came again whilst we were having lunch in the Old Manorial Mill. Some very interesting info boards in there on the history of HB and the Mill itself - now celebrating 700 years.

A pleasant trip out but those showers were not to be messed with. Glad I'm not at Leeds festival - lots of people getting off the train last night with tents etc. Rather them than me!

Enjoy your weekend - Bank Holiday in the U.K.!
