R.I.P. Sadie (Mae) Belle

With heavy hearts we had to make the decision to send our beloved Lab mix Sadie Belle over the Rainbow bridge this morning.....It was a very sudden and heart wrenching decision....but the kindest one and necessary.  She went in a week ago for what we thought would be just a teeth cleaning and possibly some extractions.  But they found an advanced stage cancersous mass attached to the back of her tongue....very bad...and within a week she was hardly able to eat or drink .  We had the in home compassionate care vet  come to our home this morning.  She passed very peaceably but we shed many tears and Cowboy is rather at a big loss of his best buddy now too.
So my friends that have been visting went up north for a few days and we are pretty emotionally upset right now.  I haven't had the desire to post blips from the past few days ...We are thankful for the compassion of Dr. Sarah and all the love from family and friends.
Sadie had a difficult first couple years being moved all around...finally settling with our friend Barb's  daughter....but this wasnt the best of solutions and then Barb's daughter died.  So we took in Sadie as she and Cowboy were best buddies already.  Sadie was quite untamed when she came to us....jumped up a lot and snatched food.  But we worked with her and she tamed down alot.  She was very very sweet in nature and always came over for hugs and pats and loved Cowboy to pieces.  We have shed a bucketful of tears and am thankful she didn't have to suffer for a long drawn out time.  Each pet that comes into our lives teaches us a lot and gives us a lot....as much as I struggled with caring for her at times, she won a special place in my heart and I will miss her sweet soul.
