Seend Cleeve (Friday 31st August 2018)

This was the first time since the last weekend that I'd got beyond walking distance from home and I ended up on the good old Kennet and Avon again. The narrowboat season is still in full force with lots of activity around Seend Lock, just below the Barge Inn (top right).

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Richard Rodney Bennett: Saxophone Concerto, 1st and 2nd Movements (1936) (1997)
John Harle (saxophone) and Academy of St. Martin in the Fields/Neville Marriner
The CD I was playing on this morning was found on the current edition of BBC Music magazine (September 2018), which is themed around the use of the saxophone in classical music. It has compositions by Bennett, Dominic Muldowney and Trish Clowes and opens with John Harle playing this Saxophone  Concerto live in 1996. That version wasn't on You Tube so I have substituted this studio version.
